SMASH-HCM at IEEE EMBC2026

We are excited to share that Marion Taconné will present study results on ECG-based phenotyping of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at the annual IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) confrence in Toronto, Canada. The study was a collaboration between our SMASH-HCM project partners from Politecnico di Milano and CHU de Rennes. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, 29 July from 11:30-13:00 during the session ‘WE.2.1: Deep and Representation Learning for Cardiac Risk’ in room 803AB.

The objective of the presentation is to propose a phenotyping of HCM patients based on their ECG records. Since these phenogroups also represent distinct clinical profiles with varying risk levels, a deep-learning model which was pre-trained on ECG data was used to generate a latent space, to which they applied clustering. To enhance interpretability, they extracted classical ECG features to explain the primary ECG differences among the four identified phenotypes.
