Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Rennes

Our team is part of a French referral center for cardiomyopathies and cardiac amyloidosis at the University Hospital Center of Rennes (CHUR). In addition, the team has a strong experience in clinical research. Therefore, the CHUR is a valuable data provider and medical expert on HCM patients in the SMASH-HCM project.

Role in the project

In this European project, we will provide population data to Work Package 2 (WP2) Data and Knowledge Curation and Management. We will bring our expertise and advice on clinical and ethical aspects of data management and aggregation. We will also accompany the LTSI (Imaging and Signal Analysis Laboratory), leader of the WP5, on Integrated multiscale vascular and multi-organ modelling. This already prolific collaboration between CHUR and LTSI scientists at Rennes University will contribute to advancing HCM modelling. At last, our team will be involved in WP6 – Data-based modelling and integration, and WP7 – Digital Twin-based Decision Support Solution for HCM management.

MD at Rennes University Hospital PhD student at University of Rennes

Dr Al Wazzan is a clinical cardiologist specialized in cardiac imaging and cardiomyopathies at Rennes University Hospital. In 2022 he got his Master 2 degree in the field of ventricular arrhythmia prediction, working in the procardioenter for cardiac innovation in Oslo, Norway. He obtained his medical theses in 2023 on the prediction of ventricular arrhythmias in HCM using clustering analysis. He is PhD student in the field of arrhythmia prediction in cardiomyopathies at Université de Rennes and is affiliated to the LTSI (Univ Rennes and INSERM research Lab). His work at the Department of Cardiology of Rennes University Hospital focuses on the monitoring of various cardiomyopathies, in particular hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
